A few meters in front of the castle, more precisely in front of the tufa tower, there is the monument to the Elector Henriette of Brandenburg as well as the building of the former first insane asylum in the Rhine province, which was opened in 1848. Opposite the parish church of St. Joseph rises above the roofs of the city. The three-aisled neo-Gothic brick church dates from around 1875 and is well worth seeing because of its choir, which shows a Flemish visitation group.
