The Leucht

The beautiful forest area The Leucht lies between the Alps and Kamp-Lintfort on the Lower Rhine.
The forest area “The Leucht” with the nature reserves Saure Venn, Erlenbruchwald and Birkenbruch can be reached either via the L 491 road or by bike via the signposted Niederrhein Route, which leads through the middle of the forest.
The Leucht is largely shaped by an oak-beech forest. Here you will only find a few pine trees. On the other hand, some fern species that shine in bright green in sunlight are widespread. Within the forest area there is also a small peat bog (Saure Venn) on whose edges rushes and grasses grow. The marked hiking trails invite you to take a long walk. A new post marking now makes orientation easier.

Start your exploration of the beautiful forest area from one of the parking lots (Rheinbergerstraße / Ackerweg or Xantener Straße (L491)) and enjoy the fresh air of the forest, where many birds and small animals have found a home.

As everywhere on the Lower Rhine, you can also use your bike in the area of the “Die Leucht” to explore the nature reserve. We also recommend a detour to the mill in Alpen, or to Issum, there are not only two mills, but in summer the terrace of the Diebels Inn also attracts with a delicious, cool glass of beer.
