The weaving museum “House of Silk Culture” in Krefeld gives its visitors an insight into the history of the textile industry.
The House of Silk Culture uses the example of a small hand weaving mill from the 19th to 20th centuries to show how fabrics were woven in the past. The Friends of the House of Silk Culture have set themselves the task of preserving a piece of the former textile history of the city of Krefeld.
The museum at Luisenstraße 15 in Krefeld shows original and functional looms that are still used today by dexterous weavers. When you enter the exhibition rooms, you feel transported back in time.
Because the former workplaces look as if they are ready for use at any time. In the museum shop, after an interesting tour, you can purchase high-quality ties, scarves and shawls, which were made according to original parament patterns, and support the preservation of the unique museum with the purchase.
