In 1907 the basis for today’s “Geological Museum Kamp-Lintfort” was laid.

The collection today includes numerous fossils, rocks and minerals, evidence of the geology of the coal mountains between the Rhine and the towns of Issum and Aldekerk, and others. In total, the collection consists of over 11,000 registered specimens, of which around 950 are on display. In addition to the finds already mentioned, this also includes rocks and fossils that came here through the glaciers of the Ice Age and from river deposits. Photos, display boards and other objects complement the original material and make it clear to visitors how geological processes occurred and how geological processes developed in the Lower Rhine region.
