Dialects are an integral part of everyday language and part of the culture on the Lower Rhine.

The dialect archive was founded due to the sustained growth in dialect literary publications. The archive now has a valuable collection of dialect books as well as audiovisual holdings. The focus of the documentation is on the one hand on the Rhineland region, on the other hand there are works from all over Germany.
