There are numerous communities and cities on the Lower Rhine that are well worth seeing. The train connections on the Lower Rhine offer a good opportunity to gradually explore the towns.
The “Niers-Express” [RE10] brings its passengers from Kleve via Kevelaer and Krefeld to the state capital Düsseldorf. From Duisburg to Xanten you can take the so-called “Niederrheiner” [RB31]. The “Rhein-Niers Bahn [RB33] runs from Erkelenz, the most south-western corner of the Lower Rhine, via Mönchengladbach, Krefeld, Duisburg, Dinslaken to Wesel. The “Rhein-Express” [RE5] runs daily from Emmerich via Wesel, Dinslaken, Duisburg to Düsseldorf, and on to Cologne. The “Weseler” [RB35] also runs from Emmerich to Düsseldorf
The VRR tariff regulations apply on the routes! You can get tickets at the train stations as well as at many advance booking offices in the region. In addition, ticket machines are available at numerous train stations. Note: Tickets from the ticket machines usually have to be validated before starting your journey.
