In the Marienpark in Kevelaer stands the stone Protective Mantle Madonna by the sculptor Arnold Hensler.

It is a memorial that is intended to commemorate the fallen of both world wars. In November 1928, the great Madonna in protective cloak was solemnly inaugurated and blessed. On the Madonna made of stone are the inscriptions SUB TUUM PRAESIDIUM, which means something like “Under your protection” and SANCTA MARIA + CONSOLATRIX AFFLICTORUM + ORA PRO NOBIS, which means “Holy Mary, comforter of the afflicted, pray for us” , chiseled.
