The LVR Archaeological Park Xanten is one of the highlights on the Lower Rhine that should be seen. Because the evidence from Roman times is unique.
The rebuilt amphitheater, as well as numerous ancient finds exhibited in the LVR-Römer Museum, attract tourists from all over the world to Xanten. Founded on the area of the former Roman city Colonia Ulpia Trajan, archaeologists continue to find new finds from Roman times, which can then often be viewed in the Roman Museum.

Archaeological Park Xanten
The 30 hectare archaeological park in Xanten is unique. Because the green areas and hedges were laid out in such a way that they reflect the layout of the former Roman settlement Ulpia Traiana. There are also numerous reconstructed buildings from Roman times and, as already mentioned, the LVR-Römer Museum, which opened in 2008. Numerous events also take place over the course of a year. Not to be forgotten is the park’s herb garden. But above all the reconstructed buildings catch the visitor’s eye immediately.
Take your time to visit the Archaeological Park. The area is spacious and offers a few opportunities to linger in addition to the sights. You can stop off in the Roman restaurant or the Cafe KaffeeMühle. The restaurant offers some dishes based on Roman recipes.
The Archaeological Park is also interesting for group outings such as company outings or for school classes. Tours can be tailored to individual needs.
