Wesel Citadel, From the former fortress citadel in Wesel on the Lower Rhine, there are still some remarkable parts of the building.
You can see the main building with a sandstone gate, the barracks No. VIII and the officers’ prison. A drawbridge over the moat and parts of the mighty city wall were also reconstructed.
Today, the Prussian Museum in the former grain storage and the Schill Museum in the casemates are located in the historic walls of the citadel. The music and art school of the city of Wesel is at home in the barracks. The officers’ prison is privately owned.
