Rheydt Castle is located in the eponymous district of Mönchengladbach and is well worth seeing.

The castle, which has been known since the 12th century, was redesigned into a Renaissance style castle around 1500. In 1917 the city of Rheydt bought the castle, which now houses a museum for art, cultural and city history. In 1988, however, the manor house of the castle had to be closed due to the risk of collapse. This was followed by an extensive renovation, so that visitors to the museum today can not only view exhibits from the history of art and culture from various epochs, but also architectural gems and the palace’s newly blooming garden. Culture, nature and gastronomy can be found on the grounds of Rheydt Castle.
