Today the city of Kaarst belongs to the district of Rhein-Kreis Neuss and consists of the neighborhoods of Kaarst, Holzbüttgen, Büttgen, Vorst and Driesch, which were combined to form the city of Kaarst in the 1970s. Each district has its own sights, but the city’s cultural and business center is in Kaarst. In the so-called new city center there is, among other things, the council and community center as well as a business center, a new residential area and a city park with a spacious lake. Other highlights include the Braunsmühle in Büttgen, a historic windmill with a functioning wind turbine and grinder, and the former noble seat of Lauvenburg, which now houses a horse stud. Among others, very popular the Rose Monday parade in Kaarst-Büttgen and the folk and marksmen´s festivals in the individual towns. There are also changing exhibitions in the forum and in the gallery of the town hall.
